UPPER LEVEL LOW: An upper level low will be the main culprit in the state’s weather for several more days. This run shows that it may stick around through the middle of next week whereas other runs have shown it departing on Sunday. We’ll have to see if this run is just an anomaly, but with upper level features they can be very hard to predict where they are going and how fast they will depart. Most of the cloudiness with this upper level feature will be over the eastern half of the state where temperatures will be held down at least a few degrees over sunny areas. Today highs will struggle to get to 60° where clouds will stick around, with mid 60s to near 70 where some sunshine is possible. Temperatures will slowly warmup that by the weekend, temps will be in the lower to middle 60s in the cloudy areas with lower to middle 70s in the sunny areas across the western half of the state.

DRY WEATHER: Outside of a few showers that could be possible with the upper level low nearby over the next few days, the weather will remain rather dry across the state for at least the rest of the month of September. Further out in the model run, the next reasonable chance of widespread rain looks to come around the first of October with a cold front moving through the area. After that the weather pattern becomes fast moving with the jet stream nearly overhead with quick moving storm systems. We’ll see if that continues on future runs.
