RAINY WEEKEND?: The latest forecasts and model runs are showing that at least western Iowa could be socked with some rain for most of the upcoming weekend while the eastern half may be able to squeak out Saturday. In any case there will be a lack of sunshine as the skies will remain cloudy to mostly cloudy today through the weekend. Chances of rain continue into Sunday night as a frontal system moves through. Skies will be sunny to start off the new work week on Monday.
MORE CHANCES: Another chance of rain moves in on Tuesday with another frontal system. Temperatures will remain seasonal to begin the week after bottoming out earlier this week with the frosty morning on Thursday. It looks to be dry for the remainder of next week at least at this time.
INTO OCTOBER: The last week of September continues to look bone dry across the state (of course we’ve been saying that for weeks now) and the model continues to trend in that direction. At the end of the run on October 1st, the main storm track is at the US Canadian border again. If this pans out, that means little steering currents and no chances of rain. We’ll see if this dry pattern that has been trending for sometime at the end of September continues into the first week of October as the next few model runs come in.
