MORE DRY WEATHER: I could type the same thing over and over, dry weather continues across the state over the next few days. BUT some interesting weather will move into the eastern counties of the state later Thursday and mainly Friday into Saturday. Clouds from the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee will be retrograding westward due to Hurricane Katia moving northward to the east of the Atlantic coast blocking the pattern. This may also kick off a shower especially along the Mississippi River from US Hwy 30 southward, the rest of the state will remain dry and the northwestern half of the state will likely not see any clouds from this feature at all.

RAIN TUESDAY: The next widespread chance of rain across the state comes on Tuesday as a frontal system moves in from the northwest. The chances aren’t that great (about 20-30%). It will bring a reenforcing shot of cooler drier air to the state. Temperatures by the middle of next week may be back in the mid 60s to near 70 for highs and lows in the mid 40s to near 50.

MORE ACTIVE?: This model run shows more moisture and better chances of showers and storms 10-14 days out. This could be welcome news for some, but by that point farmers will not be wanting much moisture in the fields as they will be nearing the time of harvest (which will be sometime in October for many). We’ll see if this pans out and helps or hurts the farmers.
