DRY FOR A WHILE: Areas north of a Sioux City to Boone to Iowa City to Grandview line saw a decent soaking of rain early yesterday morning, with some areas seeing 1-3 inches. Areas south of this line saw nothing including areas that are in moderate drought. Any rainfall over the next few days will be few and far between. Today a cold front will be coming through during the morning and early afternoon hours. The chances of any storms firing along the front in Iowa are almost nil. This will bring the humidity back down for the rest of the week and lower the temperatures back to the upper 70s and lower 80s. Today, however readings will be in the low 80s west to near 90 east and southeast. The dry weather will continue through Friday, when a diffuse front will move into northwest Iowa with a slight chance of a shower or storm. Due to Irene over the east coast this weekend, the rest of the state will likely not see any rain chances again until late Sunday into Monday with another disturbance.
LABOR DAY WEEKEND: This model run continues to show at least a storm system effecting part of the holiday weekend. Temperatures will be seasonal with mid 70s to low 80s. More on this will be known by this upcoming weekend.
