A Possible Heat Burst in Western Iowa

Below is a report send to the NWS in Des Moines at 7:30pm

DMX: 1 S Brayton [Audubon Co, IA] law enforcement reports NON-TSTM WND DMG at 07:05 PM CDT — tree reported down on a power line. trained spotter also reported limbs down in his yard. spotter estimated winds of around 40 mph and observed a temperature increase from 76 to 96 degrees in a few minutes along with a sharp drop in the humidity. this event was likely a heat burst.

UPDATE: Atlantic had at least one if not two heat bursts earlier this evening. The first at around 6:15pm, raised the temperature from 84 to 93° whilst lowering the dewpoint from the mid 70s to the mid 50s. An hour later, another more substantial heat burst likely occurred raising the temperature to 102° and lowering the dewpoint further down to 7° (likely not correct). Forty minutes later, the temperature had fallen back to 84 and the dewpoint was at 72.
