RAIN INCREASING AGAIN: After a picture perfect Sunday, some needed rain will be moving back into the state late Monday through Tuesday into the morning hours of Wednesday. Some of the thunderstorm could get strong to possibly severe. Rainfall could be anywhere from a quarter to half inch with isolated totals over 1 inch especially in thunderstorms. Readings will remain at seasonal levels through the week with highs in the lower to middle 80s.

WEEKEND RAIN: Another storm system moves in Friday and stalls over the state (mainly due to Irene which is forecast to move up the eastern seaboard according to this run). Rain will move in Friday night across the northwestern half of the state, Saturday could see some widely scattered showers and storms but not everyone getting wet and Sunday could see some more shower activity as the stalled front begins to finally move in response to Irene’s movement to the northeast.

SEPTEMBER: Still looks as if the first few days of September will be dry and somewhat warm with the main storm track near the US Canadian border. We’ll have to see if this continues to pan out in later runs.

FLOODING: See post below on the exciting news about the flooding coming to an end in Sioux City possibly by Friday evening. All gauges down to Nebraska City may go under flood stage barring any heavy rain threats by the first of September or at the latest Labor Day Weekend.

NOTE: No weekly weather forecast this week due to getting back late from a gathering.
