RAIN CHANCES THIS WEEK: Rainfall the next week will be hard to come by, but there will be several chances, however the probabilities aren’t that high. Today for example, the chance of showers and thunderstorms is anywhere between 20-40%, with the best chances across the southern counties of the state. Rainfall amounts will generally be a quarter inch or less except in thunderstorms which could dump isolated heavier totals. The next chance then falls to late Monday through Tuesday with another system. Amounts with this system look to be light as well, a quarter inch or less.

TROPICAL BLOCK: What could become Irene was 625 miles east of the Lesser Antilles moving west. This storm could have an impact on the weather not just along the eastern seaboard of the United States but on the weather in Iowa as well. By early Friday, the storm should make landfall somewhere in south Florida moving NNW. By midday Friday the storm is forecast to be near Orlando moving N or NNE. The storm is then forecast to move up the eastern seaboard over the following weekend. The impact here will be a block in the weather pattern across the midwest. The Model Run shows no storms close by during the time Thursday through the weekend which means more dry weather can be expected by the end of next week. (A more tuned forecast on this possible tropical system will be forthcoming in the next weather videos)

HEADING INTO FALL: Meteorological Fall begins on the first of September, and the model run shows nothing of the sorts for the first few days of said month and season. The main storm track will be near the US Canadian border with a ridge over the southern half of the country. This will likely keep temperatures above average with more dry weather in store (and somewhat repetitive pattern the last few weeks)

MO RIVER FLOODING: A new update was posted below on the Missouri River flooding. See details there.
