MORE DRY WEATHER: The western counties of the state got some much needed rain yesterday morning with some places seeing over 1-2 inches. Other areas like eastern and southeastern Iowa, that are really in need of some moisture saw little or nothing. We’ll be in for some more dry weather today and tomorrow with highs in the lower 80s with comfortable humidity.

SLIGHT RAIN CHANCE: Rain moves back in Friday and the model wants to stick the rain around Saturday and even into Sunday. It’ll likely be a Friday through Saturday event, with the main rain chances decreasing by late Saturday afternoon. Rainfall could be decent with this system, anywhere from a half to one inch although the QPF has overdone it lately (a good guesstimate of a quarter to half inch possible is more likely, with isolated heavier totals)

INTO NEXT WEEK: A cool Canadian High Pressure will move in for early next week with highs heading into the 70s and lows comfortably in the 50s to near 60. Another quick moving storm system may effect the state by next Wednesday.

INTO SEPTEMBER: The model run has now reached the first day of September and the weather according to this run will look to remain benign with no real active weather, no huge ridges and troughs and no real great chance of showers and storms. Being this far out, it will likely change in future runs.

FLOODING: The latest Missouri River flooding update was posted earlier, scroll down for the latest.
