PLEASANT!!!: The cooler and drier conditions will prevail for another day across most of the state. Outside an isolated shower that may brush far SW Iowa, skies will remain mostly sunny with highs in the 70s to near 80 after nighttime lows in the 50s to near 60. It wasn’t too long ago, the highs tomorrow were the overnight lows! Temperatures will increase slightly Thursday with upper 70s to lower 80s before the next storm system moves in for Friday into early Saturday.

STATE FAIR: The Iowa State Fair will have no problems on opening day on Thursday, mostly sunny skies with highs in the lower 80s, Friday could see some showers and storms during the afternoon and evening with readings in the lower 80s, then outside an early shower Saturday, the weekend will be ok with mostly sunny skies and highs around 80.

NEXT WEEK: The sunshine and dry weather continues into next week with partly to mostly sunny skies Monday and Tuesday with highs slowly climbing into the lower and middle 80s as southerly winds begin to take hold ahead of the next system. That system comes a week from today which could bring another round of showers and storms and possibly some heavy rainfall as well.

HEAT RETURN?: The end of the forecast run shows the infamous 594mb ridge back entrenched across Utah and Colorado with the main steering winds well to the north of the state once more. This, if it pans out could be a return of TRIPLE H!, however given that this would occur at the end of August and with the amount of sunshine during the day, readings may not get as high as several weeks ago, however, 90s are still possible if this comes about, we’ll wait and see!
