TRIPLE H: A Heat Advisory remains in effect through Tuesday for all but the northeastern counties of the state. Temperatures will be in the upper 80s to mid 90s with heat indices approaching 100-105°. The heat will last through Tuesday when a cold front will move into the state bringing a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

RAIN CHANCES: The chances of showers and thunderstorms continue over the next few days thereafter. Outside of Wednesday, there will be a chance of rain somewhere in the state during the week into the weekend. The best shot besides Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday morning will be on Thursday and then again Saturday across the east and Sunday statewide (albeit isolated). Rain amounts could be significant especially in areas that get numerous showers and storms. Amounts of 1-2″ are possible through at least Friday.

NORTHWESTERLY FLOW: As was mentioned in yesterday’s post, further out the ridge over the west and the trough over the east continues with this run. This will put in the state in a northwesterly flow aloft which is likely to bring cooler conditions to the state along with a risk of showers and thunderstorms rotating around the “Ring of Fire”. We’ll see how this works out in later runs.

EMILY?: A tropical wave east of the leeward islands is expected to become the next tropical depression or storm of which the name would be Emily. At this time it looks like it won’t be a gulf storm, but that could change if it remains weak.
