Rain is like Music to Everyone’s Ears

The Storm Prediction Center's Jul 22, 2011 1630 UTC (11:30AM) Day 1 Convective Outlook

Widespread Showers & Thunderstorms made there way through Iowa last night and into this morning giving Iowa much needed relief from the Heat Wave that we experienced about a week ago. Large Bands of Showers and Thunderstorms were found around Iowa last night, and are now beginning to exit Iowa this afternoon. These storms are expected to Set the Stage for the Next round of Thunderstorms, in which some could be Severe. Due to this factor, The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has posted a Slight Risk of Severe Weather for a Large Portion of Iowa with the exception of Southeastern Iowa, where we could see some Severe Activity later today. The primary threat of these storms should only be Damaging Winds and Heavy Rain, while the Tornado and Large Hail threat stays in the Dakotas this afternoon.

A small and weak Frontal Boundary has stalled over the State Today appears no Good for Thunderstorms this afternoon. This seems like it will be a similar scenario to last night, Where we could see an Isolated Warning or Two, but we will still monitor this situation and give you updates as they come in.
