WXALERT: Watch possible in Eastern Iowa

Mesoscale Discussion 1662 (Copyright NOAA & SPC)

UPDATE: The Mesoscale Discussion has expired. However, another watch may be issued later today. We will keep you updated.

Cross posted from the Iowa’s Severe Weather Center WeatherBlog at iaswc.org!

It look’s like some people may get some relief today. A new Severe Thunderstorm Watch is being proposed for a Big Portion of Eastern Iowa. This is because the SPC is thinking a Severe Band of Storms in Minnesota could stretch down towards Eastern Iowa. Very Unstable Air and Thunderstorm Development is also likely today, So keep it here to Iowa’s Severe Weather Center for the latest. This could be a dangerous situation, And you should stay tuned to later forecasts. Effective Wind Shear is also expected to Support Supercell Development, so we expect the main modes of this watch to be Damaging Winds and Large Hail, but as always an Isolated Tornado can not be ruled out.

If needed, We will launch a Live Chat later tonight, but this threat is still being discussed, And we will keep you informed our Website and Social Networking pages.
