SEVERE AROUND: There is a slight risk of severe weather once again, however this time it is over the southern third of the state, nowhere near the damage path of the derecho that occurred from near Ankeny east-northeastward through Polk, Story, Marshall, Tama and Benton counties (where the worst damage was). The main risk from these storms will be from damaging winds (there is likely to be another MCS type event in the slight risk area) There is a chance of some heavy rainfall as well from these storms, which may cause some isolated flooding especially across northwestern Iowa. The chances will dissipate entirely by Thursday as Triple H Weather moves back in at that time.

TRIPLE H MOVIN’ IN: Get ready for a lot of hazy, hot and humid weather better known as “Triple H” for the next two weeks. One ridge that contained heat this past weekend will return for this upcoming weekend beginning Friday and moving through early next week. By the following weekend however the ridge has returned along with Triple H. There will be ample chances of rainfall during this stretch, although it will be very isolated.
