SEVERE STORMS TODAY?: The Storm Prediction Center does have most of the state (outside the southeast) under a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight. The main threats from any thunderstorms that develop later today will be from large hail and damaging winds. Heavy rain isn’t likely with these storms. The storms will be developing along a cold front that will be sweeping across the state during the afternoon and evening hours. Storms may linger across the eastern and southeastern counties of the state through Wednesday morning, otherwise the rest of the week will be mostly dry with seasonal temperatures and mostly sunny skies.

RETURNING HEAT: Coming back for another engagement in the weather of Iowa, will be Triple H, hazy, hot and humid. That will be the weekend’s weather as temperatures head back to and above the 90° mark, with dewpoints climbing back into the 70s. With the heat and humidity will also bring a risk of some isolated showers and thunderstorms on Sunday. If we don’t get much rainfall from storms later today, this will be the next chance of rain and this is a fairly slim chance at best.

FURTHER OUT: Heat is wanting to build back into the state by mid-month with several chances of rain along the northern edge of the ring of fire if this pattern holds out in later runs.
