COOLING OFF: After two days of readings in the 90s with heat indices well over 100°, the weekend will see some more comfortable readings move into the state. The cold front that set off the showers and thunderstorms across the northern half of the state last evening will have brought dewpoints down to the 60s and actual temperatures into the 80s (which is average). However there is a risk of showers and thunderstorms throughout the weekend. The main risks look to be Sunday night into Monday morning and again Monday night into Tuesday morning. Any plans out doors shouldn’t be ruined but a quick look at a radar before heading out isn’t a bad choice.

WEEK OF CHANCE: The model wants to bring continued chances of showers and thunderstorms across the state for the rest of the upcoming week. The chances will be slight (20-30%) and mostly not during the daylight hours (more of a nocturnal event). Not everyone will see rainfall every day. This pattern should break by the following weekend. The chances could change with the next model run.

COOL MID JULY: Model run shows a large trough around 10-12 days out across the Great Lakes States into New England. This would put us in a northwesterly flow from Canada bringing cooler conditions to the state if this holds out. This extends to the end of the model forecast period but with lesser extent, however it doesn’t show any more heat of what we just went through anytime soon.
