Temperatures this afternoon have risen into the 90s across the state. Heat Indices have passed the 100° in many locations across the state. The highest heat index at 2pm was 117° (99°/79°) at Knoxville followed closely by Newton’s (97°/79°) 115°. With the afternoon heat has come some risk of storms. Lyon County in far NW Iowa is now under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10pm this evening.
