* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR…
NORTHEASTERN PLYMOUTH COUNTY IN NORTHWEST IOWA
NORTHWESTERN CHEROKEE COUNTY IN NORTHWEST IOWA
SOUTHEASTERN SIOUX COUNTY IN NORTHWEST IOWA
SOUTHWESTERN O’BRIEN COUNTY IN NORTHWEST IOWA

* UNTIL 1100 PM CDT

* AT 751 PM CDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. RADAR ESTIMATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN SO FAR OVER NORTHEASTERN PLYMOUTH AND NORTHWESTERN CHEROKEE COUNTY. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OF 1 TO 2 INCHES IS EXPECTED WITH THESE STORMS WITH THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL EXPECTED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF PLYMOUTH…SIOUX…O’BRIEN…AND CHEROKEE COUNTIES.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…LE MARS…ORANGE CITY…ALTON…CLEGHORN…GRANVILLE…MARCUS…PAULLINA AND REMSEN. FLASH FLOODING MAY ALSO OCCUR ALONG WHISKEY CREEK AND DEEP CREEK.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS…HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY…COUNTRY ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS…STREAMS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLOODING.
