…EF1 TORNADO CONFIRMED IN MONONA COUNTY…THE FOLLOWING IS A FINAL ASSESSMENT FOR THE DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED OVER MONONA COUNT ON JUNE 20 2011.

* DISCUSSION/DAMAGE…THE TORNADO INITIALLY TOUCHED DOWN…PRODUCING SPORADIC TREE DAMAGE…NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF COUNTY ROAD E60 TO AND L14. THE TORNADO MOVED NORTHEAST HITTING A FARMSTEAD ON COUNTY ROAD L14 UPROOTING TREES…DOWNING POWER LINES AND DESTROYING A GRAIN BIN. THE TORNADO THEN MOVED NORTHEAST THROUGH THE LOESS HILLS PRODUCING VARYING DEGREES OF TREE DAMAGE. THE TORNADO CROSS COUNTY ROAD E54 AND 277TH STREET PRODUCING FURTHER TREE DAMAGE AND DESTROYED SOME OUT BUILDINGS. THE TORNADO CONTINUED TO MOVE NORTHEAST ACROSS 258TH STREET HITTING A FARMSTEAD…WHERE PART OF THE ROOF WAS REMOVED FROM THE HOUSE. THERE WERE ALSO SOME OUT BUILDINGS DESTROYED AND TREE DAMAGE. THE TORNADO THEN CROSS COUNTY ROAD L16 KNOCKING DOWN POWER LINES. NO TORNADO DAMAGE WAS NOTED MORE THAN AHALF MILE NORTH OF COUNTY ROAD L16.
