ANOTHER DAY OF SEVERE: The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight (mainly the afternoon into the evening hours) over the eastern half of the state. The main risk looks to be from damaging winds, with some isolated large hail possible. There is a small chance of a tornado, especially in the first few hours after development and mainly along the Mississippi River. The storms will likely be out of the state by sunset, with showery and cool weather remaining over the state both Wednesday and Thursday.
MOSTLY DRY WEEKEND: The weekend looks to be near perfect across the state outside of an isolated shower or storm over the Loess Hills (where they DON’T NEED ANY MORE RAIN!!!) Readings will climb back to seasonal averages, with highs back in the lower to middle 80s.
INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND: The long holiday weekend is still well into voo-doo on the model run, but it looks typical of summertime, warm temperatures and chances of showers and thunderstorms. We’ll be able to get more pinpointed on this forecast later in the week and especially by the upcoming weekend.
MO RIVER FLOODING: Flooding is continuing along the Missouri River and isn’t expected to wain anytime soon. Current forecasts suggest it could be around the time kids return to school before the river falls below flood stage and this is dependent on AVERAGE rainfall over the next few weeks and no increase in output from upriver reservoirs. This will be a LONG duration event lasting several more weeks.
