Here is an update on the flooding ongoing on the Missouri River across the western border of Iowa. As of June 17th 2011.
At South Sioux City NE, the river was at 33.4ft, flood stage is 30ft. The river is to remain steady between 33-34ft through mid-week.
At Decatur NE (across from Onawa), the river was at 37.9ft. Flood Stage is 35 feet. The river is to rise slowly to between 38 and 39 feet and then remain steady through mid-week.
At Blair NE, the river was at 31.6ft. Flood Stage is 26.5 feet. The river is forecast to rise to 32 feet and remain steady at that mark through mid-week.
At Omaha, the river was at 33.2ft. Flood Stage is 29 feet. It is forecast to remain steady between 33-34 feet through mid-week.
At Plattsmouth NE, the river was at 34.1ft. Flood Stage is 26 feet. The river is to remain steady through mid-week.
At Nebraska City NE, the river was at 26.1ft. Flood Stage is 18 feet. It is forecast to remain around 26 feet through mid-week. This is only 1 foot from a new record at this location.
Of course these forecasts are based on normal amounts of rainfall upstream along with current outflow at Gavins Point Dam near Yankton. More rainfall or changes to outflow will change projected crests and falls across the river basin for weeks to come.
Any news on the Iowa side?
There would be if the gauges weren’t all on the Nebraska side of the river
