Flash Flood Watch over Southern Iowa until Tomorrow

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch effective from this evening until tomorrow morning for the following counties, Adair, Adams, Appanoose, Audubon, Cass, Clarke, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Guthrie, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Taylor, Union, Wapello, Warren and Wayne. The Flash Flood Watch is in effect until Tuesday afternoon for the following counties, Des Moines, Henry, Iowa, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Van Buren and Washington.

THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP AFTER 8 PM THIS EVENING AND CONTINUE DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL OF 1 TO 3 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE IN SOME OF THE HEAVIER STORMS.

* RAPID RISES ON CREEKS AND SMALL STREAMS IS POSSIBLE ALONG WITH URBAN STREET FLOODING. PERSONS IN THE WATCH AREA SHOULD BE ALERT TO RAPIDLY CHANGING CONDITIONS…ESPECIALLY IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
