HOT TUESDAY: Another hot day is in store across the state. Readings yesterday hit 100° in numerous locations over the western and central counties including Atlantic which hit 102° Newton and Shenandoah hit the century mark as well. Readings may reach 100 again today in some locales, otherwise mid to upper 90s will be common across the state with heat indices at or over 100°. A Heat Advisory is in effect across the eastern counties.
SEVERE WEDNESDAY: The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked a slight risk of severe weather for Wednesday afternoon and evening across a large portion of the state mainly southeast of a Glenwood to Osage line. The main threats will be from large hail and damaging straight line winds. Most of the severe activity will be out of the state by Midnight Thursday morning with cooler conditions to end the week albeit with the chances of rain sticking around.
HEAT RETURNS: The front will return the heat and humidity back to the state on Monday after temperatures below average Thursday and Friday. Readings will rebound to average this weekend, but the chances of showers and thunderstorms will be scattered across the state each day. The heat comes back for the middle of next week before another storm ushers cooler weather for the end of next week.
MO RIVER FLOODING: The river continues to rise from Sioux City to Nebraska City. The crest is still over a week away at many locations. Another update on the flooding will be posted later today. More levee breaches and evacautions are possible over the next week.
