MORE SVR WEATHER: The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight across a large section of the state outside the far eastern counties. All modes of severe weather will be possible with large hail and damaging winds likely being the main threats. Thunderstorms will fire along a warm front that will move through the state through the day. CAPEs of 2000-3000 J/kg with little capping will be possible during the afternoon hours, but early morning convection may play a part on where storms may or may not fire later today.

HEAT HEAT HEAT: We aren’t talking about the NBA team in Miami that’s in the finals, we’re talking about several days of hazy, hot and humid conditions. This will be the present from the warm front coming through today. Temperatures will climb to the upper 80s to middle 90s on Friday with readings retreating to the upper 80s to around 90 through the weekend into early next week. The next storm system that may squelch the heat back won’t be making an entrance until the middle to end of next week. The dog days of summer are on their way!

MO RIVER FLOODING: Flooding continues on the Missouri River across the western border of the state. Some records crests are possible over the coming weeks depending on the outflow from Lake Oahe in South Dakota. Another detailed post on the flooding will be forthcoming later today.
