MORE SVR WEATHER: The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked the southern half of the state in a slight risk of severe weather. The main threat will be from large hail and an isolated damaging wind gust. A moderate and high risk exists further to the south in SC Kansas into central Oklahoma where a tornado outbreak is possible along the dryline. CAPE values down there are expected in the 3-5,000 J/kg with decent amounts of shear for rotating updrafts and tornadoes. Values in southern Iowa will be around 1000-1750 J/kg (around 7pm), more than enough for an unstable atmosphere. There will be some capping layer, keeping the thunderstorms from developing until around sunset or later.

HEAVY PRECIP: The QPF chart shows bountiful amounts of rain to fall across the state with this system. Between 1-3 inches will be possible by the time the storm departs late on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: The three day start to the summer season will see slight chances of showers and thunderstorms throughout the weekend, with Saturday continuing to be the driest of the three. The chances are very slim and not everyone will see rain everyday, and some locations may not get rain at all during the weekend. The chance is there however, so there is no need to cancel any plans you have outdoors at this time.
