WET PERIOD AHEAD: The beginning of an active and wet week ahead as the next storm system begins to slowly move in the direction of Iowa. Already some clouds have encroached the state from the west (outside of the eastern counties which saw clouds from the storm that left the state last weekend coming from the east!). This will continue today with chances of rain and thunderstorms increasing by Friday across the western half of the state and Friday night into Saturday across the entire state. Severe Weather could be possible, the SPC has outlooked a slight risk of severe weather for Friday and Friday night across the southwestern counties of the state (The Day 2 outlook came out after I compiled the forecast video). The main threats right now, look to be large hail and damaging winds. This storm will stick around for sometime as the pattern continues to favor slow moving storm systems with the omega block still holding on across the country. This will lead to some moderate to heavy rainfall over the next 5 day period with upwards of 1-2 inches possible across the state. This won’t come all at once and in some areas, a bit of rain is needed given the somewhat dry conditions over the last week.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: This run continues to show that the weekend looks to be active across the region with some chances of showers and thunderstorms during the weekend. It also looks to remain mild for the season as well. We should have better details by this weekend or early next week with regards to the holiday weekend.
