…A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 900 PM CDT FOR CENTRAL JOHNSON COUNTY…

AT 833 PM CDT…TRAINED SPOTTERS REPORTED A TORNADO. THIS TORNADO WAS LOCATED NEAR THE WALMART IN THE SOUTHWEST SIDE OF IOWA CITY…OR ABOUT OVER IOWA CITY…MOVING EAST AT 25 MPH.

THE TORNADO WILL BE NEAR…
7 MILES SOUTH OF NEWPORT BY 840 PM CDT…
8 MILES SOUTH OF MORSE BY 845 PM CDT…
6 MILES SOUTH OF ELMIRA BY 850 PM CDT…
5 MILES SOUTH OF OASIS BY 855 PM CDT…

THIS INCLUDES INTERSTATE 80 IN IOWA BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 234 AND 253.

THIS INCLUDES INTERSTATE 380 BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 1 AND 8.

TORNADOES AT NIGHT ARE DIFFICULT TO SEE AND ARE ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS.

PLEASE REPORT ANY SEVERE WEATHER OR DAMAGE TO YOUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY FOR RELAY TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

This was the tornado that went through Iowa City injuring 15 people, but only a fatality from a later tornado near Nichols in Muscatine County was the only one in this outbreak that occurred on the day before Good Friday. Another tornado rampaged areas south and southeast of Anamosa damaging homes and injuring one person in a mobile home.
