Here are the latest river forecasts for the Mississippi River. Some of the crest levels have come down a little over the north, while areas downstream see the crest levels continue to go up as the river there is likely not going to crest for at least two weeks or more. Moderate to Major Flooding is still forecast all along the river (sans Lansing and Keokuk) over the next 1-2 weeks. Any heavy rainfall over the next week will prolong the flooding and possibly lead to higher crests for those further downstream.
ELSEWHERE: The West Fork Des Moines River continues to be over flood stage at Estherville and Humboldt. The river will fall below flood stage at Humboldt by Friday morning if not earlier. The Big Sioux River at Hawarden and Akron continues to rise slowly. It’s nearing crest at both locations and should begin a slow fall later this week.
