Sunday's Severe Weather Risk

There is a moderate risk of severe weather today for the northern sections of Iowa, with a slight risk surrounding it including all but the southeastern counties. Large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes will be possible. The better chances of tornadoes looks to be across the northwestern counties at this time, with large hail possible elsewhere along with damaging wind.

There remains a moderate risk of severe weather for Sunday across the eastern counties of the state. All modes of severe weather will be possible Sunday as well, with a cold front moving through during the afternoon hours. The showers and thunderstorms will move out of the state by midnight across the eastern counties ending the severe weather threat.

The main window for severe weather today will be between 3pm-11pm, with Sunday’s event taking place roughly between 2pm-10pm.
