PRECIP TODAY: Some light precipitation will move into the state later today into tonight and Friday morning. The amounts are to remain light with up to a tenth of an inch of liquid possible. It will likely remain in the form of some rain with possible mix across the northern counties of the state Thursday night with cooler temperatures in those areas.

SUNDAY MESS: The next best chance of precipitation is likely to come in the latter half of the upcoming weekend, with a large storm system moving quickly across the center part of the country. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible beginning Sunday afternoon. Severe Weather is not expected, but some locations could get at least a half to 3/4ths of an inch of rain, which could prolong some flooding issues. As the storm exits on Monday, there may be enough cold air in the wake to have some of the precipitation in the form of a rain snow mix as the precip ends. There will be no accumulations.

FLOODING: River flooding continues along the Des Moines, Big Sioux and Mississippi Rivers in Iowa. The Mississippi River will remain in flood for at least another 1-2 weeks as the snowmelt continues to move downstream. Several other rivers not under river flood warnings are high and any heavy rain could put them very close to flood stage again.
