SEVERE WEATHER: Get Ready!, There’s going to be a lot of action in the severe weather realm over the next few days. Besides a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight south of a Dubuque to Des Moines to Mount Ayr line, there is also a Slight Risk on Monday and Monday night for areas south and southwest of a line from Sioux Falls SD to Iowa Falls to Muscatine line. The main threat today from any severe thunderstorms will be large hail, however some isolated damaging winds are also possible and there is a hint of a brief tornado although it is VERY slight. The main window looks to be from around Noon until 8pm across the risk area with the threat waning after sunset. Keep updated on any watches and warnings that may be issued later today.

WHITE STUFF: With possibly two or three straight days of severe weather, it’s very hard to then discuss the chances of some snow in the state later in the week and in the month, but cooler air will filter into the state following the Tuesday storm which could bring some wet snowflakes to the northern counties of the state Wednesday. Another storm next weekend could start out with some wintry precipitation (especially the far north and northeast) before warmer air moves in changing it all to rain.
