LION NEXT WEEK: The weather for the next couple of days will be tranquil outside of a few flurries or snow showers on Sunday across the western half of the state. Next week a new storm system will move in from the southwest. This run is cooler than yesterday, so some parts of northern and northwest Iowa may remain with a mix of precipitation or all snow, with a mix changing to rain possibly with some embedded thunderstorms and then changing back to snow late Ash Wednesday night as the low moves away. QPF showing at least an inch statewide with some areas receiving near 2 inches. Most of it will be in the form of rain, but if it happens to be cooler than expected, there could be some significant ice or snow accumulations from this storm.
MID-MARCH MADNESS: The storm that we’ve been looking at the last several days remain on the model run around St. Patrick’s Day. This, like the storm this coming week, could bring rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow to the state with some possible accumulations. It’s way too early to tell with a storm nearly two weeks out so we’ll have to watch it and see. Remember too this is in voo-doo country so things can change wildly from run to run (however this storm has been on almost every run the last few days).
