The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain, sleet and snow, for the following counties, Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Washington from 7pm this evening until 6am Monday morning. There is also a Winter Weather Advisory from 11pm this evening until 6am Monday morning for Des Moines, Lee and Van Buren. There is also a Winter Weather Advisory from 6pm this evening until 6am for Appanoose, Davis, Decatur, Lucas, Mahaska, Monroe, Ringgold, Wapello and Wayne.
* SHORT TERM TRENDS…FREEZING RAIN…POSSIBLY WITH RAIN AT
TIMES…WILL RAPIDLY EXPAND ACROSS SOUTHERN IOWA EARLY THIS
EVENING BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO A MIXTURE OF SLEET AND SNOW
TOWARD MIDNIGHT. THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD QUICKLY SWITCH TO ALL
SNOW AROUND MIDNIGHT BEFORE ENDING EARLY MONDAY MORNING.
* STORM TOTAL SNOW/ICE ACCUMULATIONS…ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF FIVE
TO FIFTEEN HUNDREDTHS OF AN INCH MAY OCCUR THIS EVENING. SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS OF ONE TO TWO INCHES MAY FALL ON TOP OF THE ICE
LATER TONIGHT.
* WINDS/VISIBILITY…NORTH WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 20 MPH
LATER THIS EVENING…WITH GUSTS TO 25 MPH.
* IMPACTS…ROADS AND SURFACES WILL LIKELY BECOME SLICK AND ICY
THIS EVENING WITH HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONTINUING EARLY MONDAY
MORNING DUE TO THE ICE COVERED ROADS BECOMING SNOW COVERED AS
