SUNDAY STORM: The latest GFS model run (seen on the video) shows that the main precipitation event with this storm will likely begin in the southern sections of the state late morning or early afternoon on Sunday and move northeast effecting the southeastern half of the state with some form of precipitation. GFS is showing temperatures will remain above freezing for quite awhile in the southeastern sections of the state where the heaviest precipitation may fall. MOS shows Burlington will be in the 40s throughout the event. Davenport and Ottumwa will fall into the mid to upper 30s by early morning Monday with areas to the northwest dropping to or below freezing by Midnight.
With the heaviest precipitation likely staying in the warm sector, Rain (possibly mixed with some sleet and freezing rain early) will move in Sunday afternoon as warm air returns from the south. The low will move just to the southeast of the state of west Central Illinois during the overnight hours of Sunday night, Monday Morning. Rain with some embedded thunderstorms will be possible southeast of a Bloomfield to Muscatine line during the evening hours Sunday. Precipitation will shift to a rain/snow mix or all snow from NW to SE as the precipitation ends, but little accumulations of snow will be likely as the cold air will be moving in as the heaviest precipitation will be off in Illinois by morning.
The rest of next week will be quiet until Thursday into Friday with another system that may bring rain and or snow to the state at that time.
