Winter Storm Warnings in N Iowa

A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect from Sunday at Midnight through the early morning hours of Monday for the north central and northeastern counties of the state, along with Lyon County in NW Iowa.

Freezing rain will be the main hazard Saturday night into Sunday morning with accumulations of a tenth to as much as a half inch of ice possible. This may cause some sporadic power outages across the area, and will likely make travel difficult especially in the hilly areas of northeastern Iowa. As cold air wraps in behind the storm and the precipitation switches to all snow, a band of 2-6″ will be possible across the northern tiers of counties, with much lighter amounts to the south where more rain will fall. Where the Winter Storm Watches still remain, expect them to get changed later this morning.
