Sunday will be very dependent on what side of a warm front you will be on and what type of precipitation you may receive. The precipitation is expected to begin early Sunday morning, when most of the state will be at or just below the freezing mark. This will bring the chance of some snow, sleet and freezing rain, but amounts will be light with a few hundreths of an inch of ice possible and dusting of snow. Most of the day Sunday, will see temperatures well above the freezing mark, except in the northwestern and far northern counties, where it will be in the mid to upper 30s. Precipitation there may still in the form of a rain snow mix all day Sunday before switching to all snow Sunday night.

Elsewhere rain, some of it possibly heavy will move across the southern 2/3rds of the state. An isolated clap of thunder can’t be ruled out. About 1/2 to 1 inch of liquid precipitation will be possible Sunday into Monday morning, much of which will fall in the form of rain. As the storm moves away and colder air moves into the state, the precipitation will change to all snow, statewide, with the best chance of accumulating snows north of Interstate 80, with up to 4″ possible near the Iowa Minnesota border (that could change however).
