WARM AND WARMER: Temperatures keep going up as the winter thaw continues. 0z MOS Data shows highs on Thursday possibly hitting 60° across the southern half of the state. Clarinda at 66° and Council Bluffs at 65° are some of the warmest highs based on MOS, with Cedar Rapids (59°) and Dubuque (57°) some of the coolest.

CHA-CHA-CHANGES: The thaw couldn’t last forever, winter was going to come back, but it won’t be as bad as after the blizzard two weeks ago, no negative numbers. Just readings back to the seasonal averages for this time of year, highs in the 30s to near 40 and lows in the teens to around 20.

EARLY WEEK STORM: The next menace in the jet stream moves in Sunday into Monday, with possible rain and possibly isolated thunderstorms (MOS is showing some high probs of thunderstorms Monday), with some mixed precip or light snow over the far northern and northwestern counties. The precipitation will end by late Monday with some possible switchover to snow as colder weather moves into the state.

MID WEEK STORM?: Right on the edge of voodoo, another storm moves in Wednesday into early Thursday, with a track similiar to the storm previous to it. Most of the state will be in the warm sector once more, so rain will be the main precipitation across the state, but can’t rule out any mix or light snow in heavier snowpack areas.

BLOG RECORD!: The blog set a new monthly record yesterday with its 4,287th page view in February. This breaks the old record set two months ago in December. The Iowa Weather Blog since inception in late June 2008 is now nearing 55,000 page views. Thanks to one and all for continuing to come back.

NEXT VIDEO: Had some wonderful feedback from the first video and may continue to do more (especially when the weather warrants) If anyone wants to help with the video email at [email protected]
