That’s what the temperatures are doing this afternoon, instead of going up, they’re going down. Down to the single digits and teens below zero by the morning hours on Tuesday. Along with the downward spiraling readings, winds will be blowing between 10-20mph. This will create dangerous wind chills in some locations. With that in mind, the National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Wind Chill Advisory effective at Midnight tonight through Noon on Tuesday for Adair, Audubon, Black Hawk, Boone, Bremer, Butler, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Cerro Gordo, Crawford, Dallas, Emmet, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Humboldt, Jasper, Kossuth, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Polk, Poweshiek, Sac, Story, Tama, Warren, Webster, Winnebago, Worth and Wright counties. The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has the same advisory in effect for Dickinson County in NW Iowa through Noon on Tuesday as well. Expect bitterly cold readings to stick around for a few days before a drastic change comes this weekend, which could involve above average temperatures and some melting of the deep snowpack.
