The GFS Model run from this morning is showing the possiblity of a arctic cold snap coming back into the state at the middle to end of next week. The image shown above is the GFS model run a week from today. It shows a 1060mb high over Alberta heading SE toward the US. Although the high is likely not going to be as strong when it moves into the midwest, it will likely bring some of the coldest weather of the season back into the state. Although this is a week ahead and model could change, this cold snap has been on the last few runs and has wavered much from run to run. This could be as cold as the outbreak we had back in December or even early January 2010. Up until then, temperatures will likely remain around average to slightly below average, with several chances of light snow.
