Travel is becoming difficult across the western and northwestern sections of the state this afternoon. Many roads are covered with a mix of ice and or slush in the central counties where some light freezing rain has occurred. In NW Iowa, most of the roads are covered with snow. There are numerous tow bans across central and western Iowa, meaning if your vehicle goes off the road, you will not be towed out until conditions improve.
Elsewhere, the warmer air is moving into the southern and far eastern counties of the state, with readings climbing back into the 40s in those areas. There is still a outside chance of an isolated thunderstorm across SE Iowa, but the main threat has moved into Central and Southern Illinois.
