A clash of the seasons will be taking place on Friday in the state, with winter crashing into the springlike air that is moving into the state currently. Whereas the readings seen above may be a little high especially in areas with heavier snowpack, temperature differences of 30-40°+ are likely Friday from one end of the state.
There is a chance along and ahead of the cold front of some isolated thunderstorms. Some of the storms could contain some small hail over extreme SE Iowa, however severe weather is not expected in the state. The main severe weather chances will lie from St. Louis southward into the central Gulf Coast where an outbreak is possible. More average temperatures are forecast for the first week of 2011.
