More Advisories Issued for Pre Xmas Storm

As was noted last night, a winter weather advisory has now been issued from Midnight until 6pm Friday evening for the following counties, Cedar, Clinton, Des Moines, Dubuque, Henry, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren, Washington, Adair, Adams, Appanoose, Audubon, Cass, Clarke, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Guthrie, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahska, Marion, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Taylor, Union, Wapello, Warren and Wayne, Pottawattamie, Mills, Montgomery, Fremont and Page. A Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect from 9pm this evening until 6pm Friday evening for Buchanan, Delaware, Benton and Linn Counties. A Winter Weather Advisory is also now in effect from 6pm Thursday evening until 6pm Friday evening for the following counties, Black Hawk, Boone, Bremer, Butler, Calhoun, Cerro Gordo, Crawford, Emmet, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Humboldt, Kossuth, Marshall, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Sac, Story, Tama, Webster, Winnebago, Worth and Wright. Also a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6pm this evening until Noon Friday for Buena Vista, Clay, Ida, Woodbury, Cherokee, O’Brien, Plymouth, Floyd, Mitchell, Howard, Chickasaw, Fayette, Winneshiek and Clayton counties. There is also a Winter Weather Advisory from 6pm this evening until 6am Friday morning for Monona, Harrison and Shelby and a Winter Weather Advisory from 3pm this afternoon until 9am Friday morning for Dickinson, Lyon Osecola and Sioux.

Like mentioned last night in the post regarding the issuing of the winter weather advisory in NW Iowa, the snow will move into the state later this morning over the northwestern sections and progressively move through the state through Friday evening when the snow should end in the eastern counties. Snowfall amounts will range mainly between 2-5″ across a good portion of the state with some higher totals approaching 6-8″. This will be a long duration event lasting more than 24 hours and will likely impact travel today through Christmas eve night and possibly even Christmas Morning as well.
