Snowy Up to Christmas

Models are beginning to come to some sort of an agreement on where the heaviest snow is going to fall. Right now from Sioux City through Des Moines down to Ottumwa looks to be the best chance to see snowfall totals approaching 6″. The northeastern quarter of the state may see little if any snow out of this storm system, which if it occurred would be a break for them, as they’ve been pounded all month with storm after storm.

The storm is expected to move in Thursday afternoon and last through at least the morning hours of Christmas Eve in the western sections and the afternoon or early evening of Christmas Eve in the eastern sections. Travel is likely to be impacted by this storm. Christmas Day right now looks to be ok for the time being.

Winter Weather Advisories may be issued later today for this storm system. Stay Tuned.
