Travel Not Advised in Western Iowa

Road Conditions as of 1:45pm

Road conditions are becoming very hazardous as snow continues falling across the state, with blizzard conditions already occurring in western Iowa. Travel is not advised in those locations, with I-29 closed from Sioux City to Council Bluffs along with several other roads. More roads are expected to close later this afternoon into this evening as blizzard conditions move eastward.

This blogger was on the road and already saw one tanker truck in the ditch on US 151 between Marion and Springville, if you don’t have to travel today, tonight and Sunday, DON’T! Blizzard Warnings remain in effect for almost the entire state.

UPDATE: More roads in NW Iowa and WC Iowa have closed due to the blizzard conditions, many DOT plows have been pulled off the road due to these conditions. Expect this to become commonplace statewide by this evening.
