Snow Amounts Rising Again?

12z GFS Model Run of Snowfall Accumulation

The latest indications show that the heaviest snowfall band is going to set up further south than what it had said yesterday. The heaviest band now will be along and just north of I-90 in southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin. Whereas this doesn’t mean a whole lot for the state, it does move some heavier totals back into the northern sections of the state. Most of the state north of US Hwy 20 will receive at least 3-5″, with some locations near the Iowa Minnesota border possibly getting as much as 6-8″ or more. There is still a chance, especially in the southern portions of the state of seeing some freezing rain and sleet mixing in with snow and or rain. That may lower any snowfall that may occur in the southern sections of the state mainly south of I-80. More watches, warnings and advisories will likely be issued in the next 12-18 hours.
