Potent Storm Followed by Arctic Cold

Except for a few light snow showers or flurries this week, the weather will remain rather benign up until the weekend. Another cold night is in store tonight with single digits and teens for lows. Colder locales may dip below zero. Temperatures will steadily rise through the week with highs climbing to near or slightly above freezing in the non-snowpack areas with temperatures staying a few degrees cooler in snowpack areas.

A potent storm system will move through the state this weekend (beginning late Friday night through Sunday). This storm has the potential to bring accumulating snows to the entire state. Currently the best guess where the heavy snow will be is near the US Hwy 20 corridor, but that will change with later model runs. Accumulations in some locations could reach 6″+.

Following the storm, Arctic COLD will flood the state. Temepratures for highs may struggle to reach 10°, with some locations seeing nighttime lows in the -10s Monday morning.

We will kepp you updated on any further changes that might occur, with the storm system and with the arctic outbreak that is likely to happen early next week.
