Very warm temperatures this afternoon, with very low dewpoints have been common the last few days, but temperatures today have been closer to levels seen in the middle of the summer rather than in early to mid October. This is similiar to what occurred at the beginning of October 1997, which included several days in the 80s and lower 90s including several record highs. Saturday will see similiar temperatures as well before a cold front moves in bringing the first chance of rain in nearly two weeks, and cooler temperatures.
NOTE: Sioux City has already broken their record high for the date. Their old record was 86°.
