* AT 1040 AM CDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. RAINFALL MEASUREMENTS AS WELL AS RADAR ESTIMATES INDICATE THAT AS MUCH AS 2.5 TO 3.25 INCHES HAS FALLEN ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL HAS FALLEN FROM NORTHERN GUTHRIE INTO SOUTHERN BOONE COUNTY. AS MUCH AS 1 TO 2 MORE INCHES OF RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY ACROSS SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE WARNED AREA…OVER THE NEXT COUPLE HOURS.
* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO OCCUR. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…AMES…AUDUBON…GUTHRIE CENTER…HUXLEY…MADRID…NEVADA…PANORA…PERRY AND WOODWARD.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS…HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY…COUNTRY ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS…STREAMS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLOODING.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. TURN AROUND…DONT DROWN.
