Where did the Heat Go?

It’s an early morning and it doesn’t feel like late August outside. At 2am, Mason City was at 47° and Forest City was at 45°. Everywhere else readings were in the 50s to the lower 60s. There will be a few more hours before temperatures bottom out, but it looks like 40s will be common especially north of Interstate 80 and outside urban areas. The rest of the state will see lows this morning in the lower to middle 50s. Another great day is on tap again later today, with highs in the 70s to the lower 80s, with gradual warming toward the weekend. The next chance of rain is far out still, with Tuesday looking like the next best chance of rain.
