All of Iowa, Severe Weather

Severe Weather Possible Friday

The first severe weather outlook for Friday is out. There is a slight risk of severe weather for the entire state. The threats will be large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes (isolated and before sunset). A cold front is forecast to move into the state later this afternoon, with a warm front situated across central into SE Iowa, a triple point will set up somewhere in the central sections of the state by late afternoon. This will be the main focus for any shower and thunderstorm activity, some of which could become severe and could produce heavy rainfall once more. Flash Flood Watches are in effect across central into NW Iowa through later this evening and more could be issued into eastern Iowa later on this morning. The storms will last through the overnight hours of Friday night into Saturday morning, with only an early chance at a shower on Saturday before skies begin to clear and a wonderful weekend sets in, with cooler, drier weather.
