The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective until 9am this morning for the following counties, Cedar, Des Moines, Henry, Iowa, Jefferson, Johnson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren and Washington.

Thunderstorms, some of them strong to severe are moving through the central and south central portions of the state early this morning. The main threats look to be from large hail and damaging straight line winds. Heavy rain is also a possibility, especially in areas that received heavy rain last night. Flash Flooding is possible with some of the storms if they train over the same area for a duration of time.
